With flowing strokes, the brushstrokes of the Xuan paper reveal the brilliance of Chinese culture.
Interview with Mr. Lin Zi, founder of the Military Library Cultural and Artistic Education Center
China, one of the five ancient civilizations, has endured for millennia with a profound cultural heritage. The brush and ink can be seen as witnesses to the evolution of Chinese culture. Scholars, dipping their brushes in ink, sketched elegant characters and magnificent landscapes, recording the joys and sorrows of the times. From clerical script to regular script, from murals to landscape paintings, calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting have evolved in countless ways, carrying the artist's thoughts. Whether it's Li Yu's sorrow or the majestic grandeur of Mount Hua, these sentiments are vividly displayed, their spirit still resonating.
Calligraphy is one of the Six Arts of the Spring and Autumn Period, an essential skill for scholars. Many scholars still uphold this tradition, learning calligraphy from a young age; Mr. Lin Zi is a prime example. Born into a scholarly family, Mr. Lin inherited his family's learning from childhood, copying numerous famous paintings and calligraphies from ancient and modern times, both Chinese and foreign. In his spare time, he also enjoys studying the Four Books and Five Classics, as well as other classics of literature, history, and philosophy. In 2016, he established the Bing Shu Guan Cultural and Artistic Education Center, determined to share his childhood skills in calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting with aspiring individuals. Mr. Lin stated, "We uphold the belief of self-cultivation and helping others, encouraging students to create value, discover their potential and talents, and hoping to help them establish correct moral values through Chinese calligraphy and painting."
